Do you use makeup brushes to apply
your makeup? How often do you clean your makeup brushes (and I mean really deep
clean them)? Proper brush care is just as important as good makeup application.
Keeping your brushes clean not only helps with smooth makeup application but
also helps maintain the “life” of them as well. There are many “quick clean”
brush sprays on the market which are wonderful for in between deep cleanings but
when you want to really clean all of the product out of the brush what do you
use? In the past I used regular baby shampoo and warm water but this past May I
attended The Makeup Show in New York City. The Makeup Show is a beauty trade
show for Makeup Artists that is held in select cities in the U.S. and a few
that are out of the country. It is not uncommon to see YouTube “beauty gurus”
there and many of them are there promoting their products. One of the YouTubers that was there was Koren
Zander his channel is called EnKoreMakeup.
Koren has these wonderful brush soaps that he developed to deep clean
your brushes while maintaining the softness of the bristles. The brush soaps
come in an assortment of wonderful smells such as: Citrus, Lavender and Mango (you
can check out his website www.enkoremakeuponline.com
for new scents because he changes them up frequently). The scents I own are
Snickerdoodle, Lemon Cake, Lemon and English Rose. Have a sensitive nose? No
worries…These soaps also come fragrance free, dye free and sulfates free! The
soaps are antibacterial and have this awesome little loofah on the underside of
the soap to give your most stubborn brushes a good but gentle scrub.
Koren’s Brush Soaps are deep
conditioning and moisturizing and they contain oils such as Argan Oil and
Maracuja (Brazilian Passionfruit) Seed Oil. His Pro ULTRA Soaps contain the
deep conditioners as well as antiseptic/antibacterial benefits of Tea Tree Oil.
These also contain essential oils such as Lavender, Rosemary and Lemon. To
clean your brushes: Wet the brush (bristles only) and lather on one side of the
soap using circular or sweeping back and fourth motions, swirl the brush on the
palm of your hand and rinse with warm water (be sure to squeeze any excess
water out of the brush and lay them flat to dry). For more stubborn makeup turn
the soap over to the loofah side and clean using circular motions, rinse and
squeeze out excess water. Repeat if needed.
Pros to these soaps: They clean
well, they smell lovely, and are affordable. The cons: As the soap starts to
wear down they get a little “peely” and it loosens the loofah a bit on the
underside. The soaps retail for $10 and the ULTRA Soap retails for $12. Koren
is always coming out with new products so visiting his website is always a
treat J.
I definitely would recommend these soaps. I hope you found this review helpful.
Have a wonderful day and remember, “Be who you are because who you are is
beautiful.”
